DTTNCo and Citi Provide Community e-Platform to SMEs to Facilitate Digital Supply Chain Payment The continuing appreciation of the RMB against the US dollar and the related speculations has been important driving forces to Hong Kong's financial markets and economic activities. The appreciation of the RMB brings a negative impact to Hong Kong manufacturers who engage in labor intensive processing trade with low gross margins such as clothing, electronics and toys, etc.
To help manufacturers understand how to make use of treasury tools to mitigate risks and deal with expensive operating environment. Digital Trade and Transportation Network Limited (DTTNCo) jointly hosted a seminar with Citi under the topic "Financial Management under RMB Appreciation and Information Technology" on 4 June 2008. In the seminar, representatives of DTTN and Citi had also demonstrated the powerful features of the integrated solution on e-banking service and electronic document exchange to the audiences. Through the cooperation between Citi and DTTNCo, Citi customers can streamline their payment instruction process through the use of DTTN e-platform and CitiDirect Online Banking. |

Seminar on Strengthening Supply Chain Collaboration to Enhance SMEs' Competitiveness Market demand has become unstable because of the slowdown of the global economy. The rising logistics and operating costs have further made the business environment difficult. The pressure on SMEs is even more onerous as their orders in general cover goods in small quantity but in a great variety and with short delivery time.
To overcome these challenges, DTTNCo and Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC) jointly organized a seminar on 11 June 2008 at Trade and Industry Department, Support and Consultation Centre for SMEs to demonstrate how the upstream and downstream enterprises of the supply chain to strengthen their co-ordination and communication and share information so as to improve the performance of the supply chain and enhance the overall efficiency and competitiveness. Ms. Margaret Lee, Senior Vice President of DTTNCo, had also shared successful cases to enhance the understanding toward supply chain collaboration. |

DTTNCo. Jointly Organized Workshop with The Chinese Manufacturers' Association of Hong Kong Changes in processing trade policies on the mainland, along with surging production and raw material costs, will pose big challenges for Hong Kong exporters and manufacturers. Hong Kong exporters and manufacturers must take note of the likely developments not only in the global market environment, but also the production environment on the mainland. In view of the changing processing trade policies and the rising production costs, Hong Kong's enterprises should strive to better manage their supply chains in order to maintain their competitiveness.
In regards to the impacts to Hong Kong's enterprises, the Chinese Manufacturers' Association of Hong Kong (CMA) and DTTNCo jointly organized a seminar to explain how Hong Kong's enterprises manage cross-border trading through supply chain and the advantages of the integration of supply chain, optimization of trade declaration and transportation process. |

Successful Story - DTTN Helps Exporters to Simplify Process for Handling Documents and Enhance Operational Efficiency In the fast-moving commercial world, human errors are unavoidable if we handle documents manually. This is especially true for export manufacturers who need to handle a large number of documents everyday. Coincidentally, Billabong Enterprises Co Ltd and Alison & Son have deployed DTTN to increase its operational efficiency, accuracy and streamline manpower resources via automation.
Friendly Application - No Major Change for Operation In order to eliminate unnecessary paper work, Billabong has adopted the DTTN electronic platform. As Billabong's TOGO Web-based ERP system is DTTN-enabled, it is not necessary to provide re-training for Billabong's staff or install additional applications to its system. DTTN can extract data from the ERP system and export shipping orders to forwarders directly. Rosemary Chiu from Billabong says, "we want to reduce labour costs. It's great to have more procedures go automated. As we are short on manpower, we have chosen to use DTTN for shipping procedures." Rosemary asserted that the company's work process has become more efficient after the implementation of DTTN. She says, "DTTN definitely facilitates us an effective and efficient communications with the forwarders." Simple Connection with Data-inheritance Function Similarly, Alison & Son, a luxury leather manufacturer who needs to handle various documents everyday also employs DTTN for precision and accuracy. In order to save time, Alison & Son directly sends documents to their forwarders via DTTN.
